CCMAs do basic laboratory tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. They also educate patients about medication or special diets, prepare patients for procedures, assists providers with in office procedures, remove sutures, draw blood, or change dressings. Why Become a CMAA?
As a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, also known as a medical administrative specialist or, an administrative assistant, you perform many functions that fall under administrative tasks.
Some of the duties as a CMAA would be:
- Answering phones
- Schedule patents
- Transcribing dictation
- Preparing reports for the healthcare provider or other regulatory agencies
CMAA can be found in Doctor’s offices, Hospitals, Outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities. With the right training and experience, CMAAs can earn up to $50,000 annually.
