Certification Exams

Ready to take an exam?

Email HIM.ExamInformation@bryanuniversity.edu to request prep course access or an exam code* to take the CCA, RHIT, or CAHIMS.

*Before requesting an exam code you must have completed all of the domains in the prep course and passed the mock exam with an 85% or above.

HIMSS Exam – Must be taken within six months from graduation from the Bachelor’s program.

CCA Exam Must be taken within three months of graduation from the Certificate program.  Why so soon? Your coding books will expire. For example, you can only use 2026 coding books until end of April 2027. Also, the material in the prep course renews yearly. If you take too long the finish the prep course, you might have to re-purchase your coding books, which cost approximately $400 for the set. Current year books are required to take the exam.

RHIT Exam – Must be taken within six months from graduation from the Associate program.  What happens if you go past the 6 months? You may have to pay an additional charge for book costs to be re-entered into the prep course as each year the content renews.
